Healthy Classrooms

We are looking to engage in campaigns with teachers and students to help develop and support a ‘whole-school approach’ to building a school culture in which students choose nutritious & wholesome foods. 

Together lets help to create healthy classrooms in which students are more happy and balanced in mind, body and soul. 

Food is fuel for the body, so let’s make sure that it’s the right fuel giving them energy, sustenance, positive emotions and thoughts. 

 After all ‘You Are What You Eat’, so it pays to invest in eating right! 

Our Food Initiatives

Aside from school campaigns, we also participate in local Council food initiatives to ensure both compliance and Food Safety standards are achieved and maintained.

Each School that signs up with our SCK canteens will not only be signing up to a healthier future, but they will also be giving mum’s / dad’s looking to get back into the work force an opportunity too! 

You see once a school signs up with a canteen and has completed the transition period, it’s our aim to recruit and train the Canteen OP (Operations Personnel) & Cooking School / Cooking Party Facilitators from the schools local area. Hence providing jobs and further supporting the local Community. 

After School Activity 

Our SCK team will be extending their healthy eating theme at each school location by providing an after school activity in the form of a ‘Cooking School’ for Grades 1 through to 6. It was launched at Dromana Primary School at the beginning of 2012, and has been popular with both parents and kids ever since.

Meet the Team

Profile: Donna Oehm- Canteen/Cooking School Operations Manager 

Donna developed the after school cooking class  in 2012. . She also developed the Dromana Primary School’s canteen creating a healthy and nutritious menu for their school community. Donna is a qualified ‘Food Safety Supervisor’ and is head of the SCK Canteen and Cooking School Operations.

Back in the 1980′s, she mastered the art of catering when she spent two years working with Top Deck Tours in the UK & Europe. Returning to Australia she spent another five years with Australian Pacific Tours, travelling throughout the country, both cooking & looking after passengers whilst on tour. Donna then went into her own food business- Lucy’s Country Kitchen based in Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula and then left that to start her family. She has four children. 

Our New Staff

Our new staff will be trained on the following aspects:
  • Canteen Operation
  • Ordering
  • Stocktake
  • Health & Safety Procedures & Practices
  • Food Preparation
  • Correct use & Maintenance of Equipment
  • Service Delivery
  • Class Delivery
As we develop new locations we will be looking for new team members and will be advertising in each new school’s local areas.
